We said our final goodbyes to David (Dad) yesterday, Thursday 26th Sept, at Colchester Crematorium in a very personal
and moving family committal.
Everyone who knew him will remember him as a quiet, gentle man who got things done and did it well. Nothing was ever too much trouble and his commitment to helping others for whatever reason whenever he could was undeniable. Aswell as his passion for sailing, Mersea, his gifted craft with wood and so many other attributes he was always his most happy and content at home with his family around him. We will truly miss his steady guiding hand.
Be at peace now Dad. Love you.

David was always Gracie Green to us boys as only later did we qualify to use his Christian name. Obviously there was much more going on in his busy life than the boat but for me he was synonymous with her because that was the part of him we saw. And she was quite something. An important and longstanding part of the scene inspiring you to look up to her owner. He made time, no matter how busy, to stop and talk to a youngster and was always cheerful and generous. Naturally he brought on a family of like-minded people of whom he could be proud. Sail on Gracie Green.
